9 Months Out!!! ;-) Doing Well!!!

225#:  Hello All...I hope all is well!  I am doing great.  I've pretty much leveled off by now, but I'd still like to lose another 10 lbs., but we'll see.  I've been having trouble with back pain--believed to be from work/duty belt, as I didn't really do anything that I remember to cause the pain.  I have 5 disc. bulges in my lower back, and they sent me to physical therapy.  I guess that's good news, as I don't need surgery--yet; but if it doesn't get better, I'll need hormone injections, with a possiblity of surgery later.  I hope therapy works!!!  As far as my weight loss surgery, I'm very happy.  I feel that I'm living a normal life, without all that extra weight.  I plan on maintaining this healthy life style, and using this useful tool to my advantage, as I am blessed.  I have no regrets, and I'm able to help others with questions about the surgery.  It definately feels so much better sitting in my squad car, or at the Vikings game the other day in those stadium seats, without all that extra weight I had.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you, and I'll probably write more at my one year mark!!!  Take Care--AK!!!

    4 1/2 Months Out...All is well!!

245#: Hello All,  I just wanted to let you all know that I've finally reached one of my milestones, and that was to be under 250#!!!  :-)  I've been able to workout on duty--so I have no excuses anymore--and I've tried to stay active on my days off!!!  I had a few problems with eating too fast lately, and it goes to show me that old habits are hard to break still...SLOW DOWN!!!  Overall, everything is going well, and I'm very happy with my success!!  Take Care!!

    Two months out...going great!!!

#269: Hello All, it's been about two months since my surgery date, so I thought I'd keep you all up to date on what's new.  I've lost about 40 lbs so far, and it feels great.  The only thing that's very difficult for me, is not being able to drink fluids 30 minutes before or after a meal.  If I stay on top of the daily fluid intake, it's not so bad.  But when I'm a little behind, and I have a meal, I get real thirsty, and it's rather difficult.  Other than that, all is quite well.  My clothes are getting baggy, and I enjoy that feeling.  I'm finally able to get back into the clothes I wore when I was thinner!!!  ;-)

I'd like to be down to about #220 when all is done, so we'll see!!! I'll keep plugging away!!!  Keep in touch!!

    I Survived....All Is Going Well!!!

290#--About 20#'s already gone forever!!!!  Well, the surgery went very well.  I decided to have my gullbladder taken out with the surgery, as they say that one of the side effects of this surgery are gull-stones.  So, I figured I might as well get rid of it now, so that I don't have to go back under again later.  Waking up after surgery and the first couple of days were pretty painful, due to the bloating/pressure feeling of all that air inside my body.  I tossed and turned in the bed--and even walked around--but nothing would get rid of it.  It was awful--but that's what comes with major surgery.  After a few days out of the hospital, the pressure was mostly gone.  I went from clear liquids after surgery, to full liquids on Monday, to pureed foods two days ago.  It's funny how much joy graduating up to the next level can make you feel.  I can now have yogurt, refried beans, chili--pureed ;-), cream of wheat, tomato soup, and more!!! It will only get better from here.  My next step is mashed foods, in about two weeks--Feb.3rd--so I'm looking forward to that.  My only concern right now is portion sizes.  I'm already able to eat more than the recommended portions, so I'm worried that my tummy may be stretched out more than it should be.  I'll just have to monitor it some more over the next few weeks.  Another weird thing is that I haven't gotten sick from eating any of the foods so far--which makes me have to be more disciplined on what I eat and how much!!!  Fun Fun!!  I'm going back to work on Monday, for two weeks of light-duty.  Me stuck in the office for two weeks...wonderful--NOT!!!  Although, I know I'm not reeady to place a bullet proof vest over my stomach either--that would still be a little painful.  Well, I will update again in a few weeks.  You all take care and check back soon!!!  ~Andy~

    The BIG Day!!!!

Well, Here we are....the big day for surgery.  I have to admit that the 10-day liquid diet sucked, and I'm craving food real bad--BUT I made it!!!  I'm especially proud of myself because I didn't cheat once during those days, so I know that I'm ready for the change and that I can do it if I put my mind to it!!!  I'm about to leave for the hospital, and I'm not really scared any more.  I'm just ready to get it done and over with, so I can start my new life!!!  I appreciate all of the support from everyone, and I look forward to sharing my stories with you all once I wake up!!!  ;-)

    One Month Countdown

Wow....One month away from surgery.  I'm so excited about this new adventure, but yet at the same time I'm very scared.  I'm hoping that all goes well, as I never want to look back and regret my decision.  I realize there are a lot of complications with this surgery, but I've met several people who have been very happy with their decision.  I think that is what keeps me going!!!  Well, I hope to document this process of mine often, to keep you all informed.  Most of the entries will probably come after surgery, as I'll have more to say about my new life.  I hope all goes well, so say a prayer for me!!! Bye for now!!!
